Interdistrict Attendance Agreement Guidelines

General Information

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreements are requests from families who live within Weaver Union School District (“WUSD”) boundaries and want their child to attend school in another school district.

    • If your family lives within another school district’s boundaries and would like your child to attend WUSD, please contact your district of residency for the appropriate transfer form.

  • Reasons for requesting an Interdistrict Attendance Agreement can include parent employment, specialized programs, continuing enrollment, siblings, childcare, safety, or family military service.

  • The WUSD must consider integration, space, enrollment size, school residency, and cost factors prior to granting an Interdistrict Attendance Agreement to any student, including those with disabilities.

  • Once an Interdistrict Attendance Agreement is approved, the pupil can remain at that school for the current school year. If the parent/guardian wishes the student to attend another school outside of the WUSD, they must submit a new Interdistrict Attendance Agreement request.

  • All Interdistrict Attendance Agreement requests are reviewed by WUSD throughout the school year for compliance.

  • Parents/guardians are expected to assure that the student is on time to school and for the full day, maintains appropriate behavior as outlined by the school, WUSD, and the California Education Code, and continues to make academic progress.

  • Responsibility for transporting the student to and from school resides with the parent or guardian.

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreement requests must be renewed on a yearly basis.

Application Process

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications are accepted/processed on an ongoing basis.

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications can be found online at www.weaverusd.org or from the District Office, located at 1240 “D” Street, Merced.

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications to attend a school outside of the WUSD must start at the WUSD District Office.

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications to attend a school within the Weaver Union School District must start with an application signed by the parent/guardian’s district of residence. Contact your district of residence for an application.

  • All Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications must be accepted/processed at the WUSD District Office, located at 1240 “D” Street, Merced.

Incomplete Applications

  • Incomplete Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications will not be processed.

  • If you have not been notified about an Interdistrict Attendance Agreement application within 15 calendar days, please contact the District Office at (209) 723-7606.

  • Failure to submit a completed application will be considered an abandonment of the request after 30 calendar days and the application will not be processed.

Application Decision

  • Interdistrict Attendance Agreement applications will be reviewed and the family notified of the decision to accept or deny an application within 30 calendar days. For future year requests (with the exception of Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten requests), the family will be notified within 15 calendar days before the first day of the new school year.

  • Decisions to accept or deny an Interdistrict Attendance Agreement application are based on several factors to include available space in requested schools or programs, specialized needs of the student, and an evaluation of the student’s attendance, behavior, and academic progress.

  • The Interdistrict Attendance Agreement decision notification will be made by telephone and a formal written notification will be mailed to the parent/guardian.

  • The Weaver Union School District Superintendent, in consultation with school site administration, as appropriate, makes the final determination of the Interdistrict Transfer Agreement application.

  • If the US mail is not returned to the District Office, WUSD will consider any notifications to have been delivered.
