March 7, 2022 - Update to Mask Mandate:
Mask Mandate: Key Points for Governor Newsom’s 2/28/22 Announcement Regarding Masks in K-12 Schools.
● The Statewide mask mandate for K12 schools will end on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
● Beginning on Saturday, March 12, 2022, masks will be a recommendation, not a requirement.
● The Weaver Union School District is following the guidance of the California Department of Public Health. As such, masks will be optional for all Weaver Union School District students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, on Monday, March 14, 2022
Dear Weaver Families & Staff,
Over the last two school years, Weaver Union School District has followed the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) K-12 School requirements. As part of the WUSD School Re-Opening Plan for the 2021-2022 school year, WUSD assured families and staff that WUSD would continue to follow the guidance of the CDPH throughout the pandemic.
On 2/28/2022, the Governor of California announced new masking guidance. As the changes in the new State masking requirement become effective on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, masks will be optional for all Weaver Union students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, on Monday, March 14, 2022
We appreciate and acknowledge that the State lifting the mask requirement may cause anxiety for some people, especially those who are at higher risk for COVID or live with someone who is at higher risk. Please note that mask-wearing is still an option for every student or staff member who wishes to wear one at any time.
As there are varying views and opinions in our local community as it relates to the COVID pandemic, please continue to demonstrate kindness and respect.
Respecting Personal Choice
• The State is providing personal choice for masking in schools with the expectation that individual choices are respected. Please do not make assumptions regarding someone’s beliefs or health status based upon their choice to wear or not wear a mask.
• Families should discuss the change in masking requirements with their children, including respect for personal choice.
• Weaver USD will continue to have masks available for students or staff who wish to continue utilizing personal protective equipment.
Responsibility
• Students and staff should continue to remain home when sick.
• Students and staff are still encouraged to take a COVID-19 test if exhibiting symptoms and/or if they have a known exposure to COVID-19.
• Weaver USD will continue offering COVID-19 testing opportunities
As we head into spring, there is renewed optimism for a return to pre-COVID school environments and activities. We would like to personally thank all of our students, staff and families for their support, patience and understanding as we have navigated the ever-changing demands of this now two year pandemic.
Mike Weber
Assistant Superintendent
Weaver Union School District

Parents, we need your help. Social Media sites are becoming a challenge on our school campuses as students all over the Nation are posting and sharing inappropriate material such as violence, drugs, weapons and hate speech. Please check your child's devices and make sure you approve of the sites they are following and the content they are posting! Here is a website with some great advice: https://www.internetmatters.org/resources/social-media-advice-hub/
